Dramatize - Giving children skills for life

About Us

Dramatize is based on the belief that childrens needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team is committed to meeting those needs giving the children valuable life skills.

The school operates for three hours each week during term-time, either after school or at weekends. Split into three groups of similar ages, youngsters gain confidence, self-esteem and learn to express themselves creatively and effectively. These skills, acquired while learning the skills of performance, do not disappear when they come off stage, they are skills for life.
CLASSES

Our inspiring professionals teach acting, singing and dancing in a safe, friendly environment to 4-16 year olds.
Small groups(max. 15 in a class) ensure the talents of each child are recognised and nurtured. Classes are divided into the following age groups: 4-6years, 7-11years and 12-16 years

HOW IT WORKS

For 7-16 year olds lessons are structured in three hourly sessions. During the first hour one group learns to sing, the second to act and the third to dance. After each hour the groups rotate so that everyone has the opportunity to practice all three disciplines.

For ages 4-6 it’s the same routine but in half hourly sessions so the total for them is only ninety minutes.

All classes are run by professional dance, drama or singing teachers who have been CRB checked and many are currently working in the profession. Dramatize however is not just for performers, it is also for those who wish simply to enjoy learning to act, sing and dance. The Dramatize ethos is to enable children to grow, gradually and at their own speed, into effective human beings. At the same time our caring and talented teachers and principals make sure they keep their feet firmly on the ground.

The curriculum is broad to enable students to experience a wide range of styles and skills. The dance class will improve coordination and technique and give the opportunity to learn popular pop dance routines and musical theatre ensemble pieces. In drama, young people will explore their creativity through improvisation and role play, improving vocabulary, social awareness and communication skills. The singing class will introduce students to different rhythms and tempos in music allowing them to challenge themselves with a wide range of songs while improving technique and vocal ability.

Fun is an essential element of any programme and we have learned one truth over many years. Children love to achieve and they like to do so in a disciplined environment. At Dramatize we don't set out to create fun, the students do that for themselves.
