Pathway 2 - Academy
Within Pathway 2 - Academy, each individual will work towards independence, understanding time, money management and travel training to learn the life skills required to become an artist. Each individual will work towards becoming an artist true to their own vision.
The day is split in two, one half focusing on different art forms, the other out in the community exploring other arts whilst learning and practising key life skills.
On the course we will cover performing modules such as Physical Theatre, Stage Make Up, Dance, Acting and Voice, as well as technical modules such as Stage Management and Design. The modules are changed on a regular basis.
Below are a few case studies of our students who are beginning their life as an artist.
Josh has a key interest in singing and with the help of our facilitators has created a Freddy Mercury act, performing a selection of songs at gigs out in the community. He has been working hard on both his voice techniques with our singing teacher and his performance skills with our drama facilitator, to make sure his act is one to remember!
Holly has trained to become a qualified Zumba teacher and gained a voluntary teaching position at a local adult college. Holly is teaching our classes in-house at Dramatize on a weekly basis with the support of our facilitators.
Rachel has recently become a carer within our Day Service after showing a key interest in helping and support peers who need additional support.
These are just a few of our students who worked with our staff to find the area they would like to further their knowledge in.
Our Academy programme follows a set timetable, building upon each individuals independence, like skills and knowledge in the arts, providing opportunities to perform in the local community.
Within Dramatize Academy, each student will work towards gaining An Arts Award – a recognised qualification equivalent to a GCSE or A-Level. This qualification is suitable for all abilities and offers different levels to work towards.
Each student will have personal targets to work towards each year. Our staff work closely with parents and/or carers, holding review meetings to discuss individual progress.
Please Note: If the individual already attends a provision, this does not narrow their options. Each young adult can use their Self-Directed Support (SDS) or other funding from their care package, to attend several provisions. We are happy to advise you on this.
